On the afternoon of January 7, the Branch of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) of Tsinghua Alumni Association (hereinafter referred to as EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association) held a donating & naming ceremony for tables and chairs in Lecture Hall 217, West Main Building, in a combination of online and offline forms. Nearly 70 people attended the ceremony, including Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA and chairman of EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association, Yu Xinjie, secretary of the Party Committee of EEA, Liang Xidong and Guo Liang, vice chairmen of the Alumni Association, and representatives of some donating classes, and another 20 class representatives attended the ceremony online. The ceremony was presided over by Zheng Zedong, secretary general of EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of EEA.
On behalf of EEA, Mr. Kang Chongqing expressed his gratitude to the classes who actively participated in the donating event, as well as the alumni who always care about and support the development of their alma mater. He introduced the historical development of the West Main Building and Lecture Hall 217 to the participating alumni, and briefly introduced the construction of various local alumni associations of EEA and the purpose of established fund projects. He mentioned that this donation was a gift for the 90th anniversary of the EEA. A total of 91 chairs were donated in the first phase, and more than CNY 800,000 was raised for the 90th anniversary of EEA and alumni activities, table and chair donation and other existing donation projects have played an important role in supporting the development of EEA.
Mr. Zheng Zedong introduced to the alumni in detail the fund projects currently running in EEA, such as the Elderly Fund, Professor Naming Fund, and Student Activity Fund. He mentioned that fund work is an important basis for the long-term and stable operation of a university, is also an important support for education, teaching, scientific research and talent team building. We look forward to constant support from our alumni.

Each class representative personally installed the donation nameplate on the corresponding chair. The nameplate is engraved with the class name, class motto, class introduction QR code and so on. The QR code for scanning is linked to the homepage of each class on the official website of EEA, so that alumni of different ages can share the class information of the old days on the web page. At the same time, duplicate donation nameplates were also provided as a souvenir for alumni.

The table and chair donation project in Lecture Hall 217 of the West Main Building is named in the unit of class, and the donation amount of each class is CNY 9,000, implying the gift to the 90th anniversary of EEA. The donated fund will be used for the alumni work of EEA. A total of 170 chairs are named in two phases, implying a leap of 90 years to a new century. The 79 chairs in Phase 2 have all been opened for donation.
