The China-Italy Joint Laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing(CI-LAM) is one of the first initiatives among the two Countries focused on the collaboration in the field of Smart Factory and Digitalisation. Its mission is to promote and enhance the results of a joint cutting-edge research and development collaboration, including mutual technology transfer. The vision of the joint lab is to be the most effective collaboration bridge between China and Italy in area of advanced manufacturing. The core members of CI-LAM include Tsinghua University, University of Naples Federico II and University of Bergamo，China Sci-tech Automation Alliance(CSAA) and SPICI.
The CI-LAM Summer School was a joint activity of CI-LAM given its strong focus on talent cultivation and willingness to foster the entrepreneurial culture among students. The 2019 edition of Summer School was held in Naples from 15th to 28th July, with the participation of 22 students from Tsinghua University, University of Naples Federico II and University of Bergamo. Due to the pandemic outbreak, the 2020 to 2022 edition of the CI-LAM Summer School were totally digitalised and transformed to an online training, innovation and matchmaking activity, open to a significantly larger target, both in terms of numbers and of categories of beneficiaries. The 2023 edition Summer School was successfully launched from 12th to 27th July in Italy. 38 graduate students from Tsinghua, Naples and Bergamo were gathered together. The forms of activities included lectures, laboratory visit, innovative enterprise visit and cultural exchange activities etc. The technical fields of the lectures involved robotics, automation, quantum communication, human-machine collaboration, power electronics, 5G, AI, additive manufacturing, and industrial big data.
The 2024 edition will be held on 15th-26th July in Tsinghua University. 24 Italian graduate students will fly to China. We have 50 Chinese and Italian students in total. It will be an unforgettable and valuable academic trip for them.
The schedule of 2024 Summer School will be released at end of June.
