At Tsinghua, a place of elegance and inspiration; with music ever flowing and students flourishing like fragrant peach and plum blossoms—during this vibrant and lively season, we celebrate the 114th anniversary of Tsinghua University’s founding. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) has carefully prepared a series of splendid events to warmly welcome alumni from all directions back to their alma mater. Former classmates and friends have crossed mountains and seas, carrying fond memories of the past and hopes for the future, gathering together to relive the youthful chapters deeply engraved in the passage of time.
“Welcome home, seniors!” In the morning sunlight at the check-in area in front of the West Main Building, a volunteer team composed of faculty and students was ready, holding university badges and red banners, greeting every weary but returning “swallow” with familiar and heartfelt welcomes. Department Dean Kang Chongqing, Party Secretary Zheng Zedong, and other department leaders engaged warmly with attending alumni and introduced the department’s recent developments.
Over the two-day celebration, the department received more than 600 returning alumni. It hosted nine anniversary reunions, including the 60th anniversary for the class graduated in 1965, the 50th anniversary for the class graduated in 1975, the 40th anniversary for the class graduated in 1985, the 30th anniversary for the class graduated in 1995, the 20th anniversary for the class graduated in 2005, and the 10th anniversary for the class admitted in 2015 (Electrical Postdoctoral Class 15).
Concurrently with the anniversary reunions, other events were held, including the “Setting Sail and Passing the Torch” Electrical Engineering Alumni Forum and the “Add E Plan,” the third Executive Council election meeting of the EEA Alumni Association of Tsinghua University, the “New Light” undergraduate academic exchange, the 40th-anniversary discussion of the postdoctoral system at the EEA’s postdoctoral mobiles station, and the first board meeting of the Electrical Engineering Postdoctoral Alumni Association.
