On March 14, Yingda Media Investment Group Co., Ltd. Concluded its 2024 Outstanding Video Works Exhibition and Evaluation event successfully. After several rounds of intense competition, the company’s film “Mao Yugui, the Electric Power Supporter of the Border” was recognized as an excellent work in the documentary category.
Mao Yugui was born in Shanghai in 1932 and graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University in 1954. He was originally appointed deputy director of the power supply bureau in Dingbian County. In 2021, he received the “Most Beautiful Dingbian Person — Outstanding Talent Award.”
In 1957, responding to the call to develop Northwest China, Mao Yugui moved to Shaanxi Province and ultimately settled in Dingbian. Overcoming challenges such as salt-alkali corrosion and cross-disciplinary difficulties, he led his team in surveying power lines and taught himself civil engineering. In ten years, he helped build four substations in Dingbian County. From the prime of his youth to his white hair in old age, Mao dedicated 36 years on the front lines, lighting thousands of homes with the “Three Bulls” spirit, laying the foundation for Dingbian’s electric power development.
Now over ninety years old, Mao Yugui still cares deeply about power grid development, witnessing the era’s transformation from “desert to oasis,” embodying a heartfelt dedication to serving the country with unwavering patriotism.
