On December 27, Zhang Zhigang, Chairman and Party Secretary of State Grid Corporation of China, and Pang Xiaogang, General Manager and Party Deputy Secretary, visited Tsinghua University. They held talks with Qiu Yong, Party Secretary of Tsinghua University and Li Luming, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Tsinghua University to comprehensively deepen exchanges and cooperation, promote technological innovation, enhance talent cultivation, deepen the integration of industry, academia, research, and application, accelerate the construction of a new type power system, and jointly work on foundational theoretical research and key technological breakthroughs for the new type power system. The aim is to make positive contributions to the high-quality development of energy and power, better support and serve Chinese-style modernization. Chen Guoping, Vice General Manager and Party Member of State Grid, and Zeng Rong, Standing Committee Member of the Party and Vice President of Tsinghua University, signed a framework agreement for deepening comprehensive cooperation on behalf of both parties.
Before the talks, Zhang Zhigang and Pang Xiaogang visited the State Key Laboratory of New Type Power System Operation and Control (referred to as "State Key Lab"). They were received by Zeng Rong, Vice President of Tsinghua University, Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Zheng Zedong, Party Secretary of EEA, Min Yong, Director of the State Key Lab, and Han Yingduo, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor of EEA. Min Yong introduced the State Key Lab’s overview, research achievements, and other aspects. Yu Zhanqing, Deputy Party Secretary of EEA, provided a detailed introduction to the development and operation of the IGCT series technology and equipment. Zhang Zhigang raised questions on key technological issues related to the construction and operation of the new type power system and engaged in in-depth discussions with the professors from EEA.
