Recently, the 2024 Annual Management Committee Meeting of New Energy Key DC Equipment Joint Research Center for Tsinghua University (Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, EEA) — Beijing Electric Power Equipment General Factory Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the Joint Research Center) was held at Tsinghua University. The committee deeply discussed important topics such as the research progress of 2023, future work directions, and enhancing collaborative efforts.

The meeting was chaired by Yu Zhanqing, Deputy Party Secretary of EEA and a committee member. Attendees included Yang Yuemin, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of China Energy Construction Group Equipment Co., Ltd., who is also the Director of the Management Committee; Yu Xinjie, Party Secretary of EEA and Deputy Director of the Management Committee; Zhang Yuehua, Party Secretary and Chairman of Beijing Electric Power Equipment General Factory; Wang Chunmin, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of Beijing Electric Power Equipment General Factory; Zhao Biao, member of the Committee, Associate Professor and Director of the Joint Research Center; Zhang Meng, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of Beijing Electric Power Equipment General Factory and Deputy Director of the Joint Research Center; Liu Chengzhu, Deputy Director of the Electrical Institute at Beijing Electric Power Equipment General Factory and expert of the Joint Research Center; and Qu Lu, Assistant Researcher at EEA and expert of the Joint Research Center, among other committee leaders and experts.

Yu Xinjie highly praised the phased research achievements since the establishment of the Joint Research Center a year ago. He noted that the collaboration between Beijing Electric Power Equipment General Factory and EEA has led to significant progress in DC circuit breakers, four-quadrant power regulation devices, DC dissipation devices, and hydrogen production power sources. He expressed the hope that under the dual-carbon goals and the construction of a new power system, both parties will continue to focus on niche fields, innovate in industrial models, strengthen organized scientific research, and support the nation's scientific and technological self-reliance and strength.

Yang Yuemin thanked Tsinghua University for its long-term care, support, and assistance to the company and fully acknowledged the achievements of the Joint Research Center since its inception. He expressed his hope that Beijing Electric Power Equipment General Factory will continue to strengthen its collaborative R&D with Tsinghua University under this new institution, deeply implement the national dual-carbon goals, and adhere to China Energy Construction’s “1466” strategy and “30·60” system solution, centering on integrated energy storage and hydrogen energy as key supports, and advancing the strategic deployment of developing “three new” equipment.

Zhang Yuehua provided updates on specific projects such as the Yangjiang ±500kV DC dissipation device, the Qinghai DC convergence project, and the four-quadrant power regulation device engineering project. He hoped for continued deep collaboration in the development of new products and field testing to quickly seize opportunities for new energy grid integration and accelerate the demonstration and application of products.

Yu Zhanqing stated that, leveraging the Joint Research Center, EEA will fully utilize its technical advantages to provide technical support and upgrades for new product development. Additionally, they will focus on forward-looking technologies and accelerate the implementation of new products.

Zhao Biao, Director of the Joint Research Center, and Zhang Meng, Deputy Director, reported on the center’s equipment research progress for the year and research directions for the upcoming year. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on important topics such as future work plans and development directions.

Overview of the De

The New Energy Key DC Equipment Joint Research Center for Tsinghua University (EEA) — Beijing Electric Power Equipment General Factory Co., Ltd. was inaugurated on March 13, 2023. The Joint Research Center focuses on core DC equipment for new energy power generation grid integration, leveraging the technological research achievements of EEA and the technical R&D, result transformation, and promotion advantages of Beijing Electric Power Equipment General Factory. Together, they integrate innovative resources to develop key technologies for new energy power generation grid integration, conduct collaborative scientific research projects, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and jointly cultivate high-quality research talents.
