Overview of the De

Award ceremony

China Electrotechnical Society (CES), established in 1981, is an academic organization voluntarily formed by professionals in the electrical engineering field. It is a significant social force in the development of China’s electrical engineering industry. The society’s professional domains include electrical machines and apparatus, power electronics and electric drives, power systems and automation, electrical theory and new technology, and high voltage and insulation. In 2021, CES introduced the Fellows system to honor members who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in electrical engineering or related disciplines, made significant academic contributions, achieved major inventions, or contributed significantly to the development of the society. Being named a Fellow is the highest honor within CES. Nominations and selections are conducted annually, with no more than 10 domestic Fellows and 3 foreign Fellows selected each year. Members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, recipients of the Gao Jingde Achievement Award, and past Presidents and Vice Presidents of CES do not participate in the Fellows selection process. However, they can become Fellows directly upon their request, pending approval by the CES Executive Council, and their inclusion does not count against the annual quota.
