On November 25, 2023, the inaugural meeting of Electrical Engineering Committee, Zhejiang Alumni Association, Tsinghua University and the forum of “Joining Hands with Xiaoshan, Innovation and Entrepreneurship” were held in Hangzhou. The event attracted numerous alumni, government leaders, and representatives from enterprises, who came together to celebrate the establishment of the Electrical Engineering Committee of Zhejiang Alumni Association, Tsinghua University. They also discussed new ideas and opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship. The event was hosted by Yu Xinjie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Tsinghua University and Vice President of the EEA Alumni Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association.

In his speech, Shi Zongkai, Vice President of Tsinghua Alumni Association, briefly introduced the development history of the Alumni Association. He highly recognized and appreciated the exemplary role played by EEA in uniting various downstream sectors of the energy industry. Shi Zongkai reviewed and shared stories of cooperation and exchanges with outstanding alumni from the EEA, acknowledging the effectiveness of talent cultivation in the Department. He expressed hope that EEA and alumni associations nationwide would play a more active role in alumni development.

Wang Jianjun, President of Zhejiang Alumni Association, Tsinghua University warmly congratulated the establishment of the Committee. Subsequently, Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA, Tsinghua University and President of EEA Alumni Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association, provided a detailed introduction to the history, development, and outstanding achievements of EEA. This included the results of the construction of a disciplinary system called “one axis and two wings,” the EEA’s excellent faculty, the core teaching and research philosophy of cultivating virtue and talent, as well as a variety of colorful alumni activities. The presentation fully showcased the EEA’s teaching quality and research achievements, highlighting the mission and commitment of Tsinghua’s electrical engineering professionals in the field of education.

Huang Kaisheng, Head of Zhejiang Tsinghua Yangtze River Delta Research Institute, offered warm congratulations on the establishment of the Committee. He provided a detailed overview of the achievements of the Yangtze River Delta Research Institute since its establishment. Combining the development plan and industrial layout of Zhejiang Province, he analyzed the prospects for the innovation and entrepreneurship development of EEA’s alumni in Zhejiang and the Yangtze River Delta region, expressing great expectations for the future.

In the presence of the guests and EEA’s alumni, the Electrical Engineering Committee of Zhejiang Alumni Association, Tsinghua University was officially inaugurated. Guo Liang, Executive Deputy Dean of Cross-Strait Research Institute, Wang Jianjun, President of Zhejiang Alumni Association, Kang Chongqing, President of EEA Alumni Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association, and Zhong Mingbo, Chairman of Electrical Engineering Committee of Zhejiang Alumni Association, Tsinghua University jointly unveiled the plaque.
Strategic cooperation agreement signing ceremony
During the event, Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Xiaoshan District Government. This event not only marked a new starting point for the alumni work of EEA but also opened a new chapter in deepening cooperation and seeking development among EEA’s alumni, alumni enterprises, and local governments. Liu Yi, Deputy Dean of Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, and Wang Wei, Director of Xianghu National Tourism Resort Area Management Committee, represented both parties in signing the agreement.

Zhong Mingbo, Chairman of Electrical Engineering Committee of Zhejiang Alumni Association, Tsinghua University, introduced the core members of the committee in his speech. He expressed the committee’s commitment to providing excellent services for Tsinghua alumni in Zhejiang under the guidance of the Tsinghua Alumni Association and Zhejiang Alumni Association of Tsinghua University.

After the inaugural meeting, the forum of “Joining Hands with Xiaoshan, Innovatiion and Entrepreneurship” continued. Zheng Fangneng, Second-level Inspector of the Major Projects Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Jiang Yuanyuan, Deputy Director of Xiaoshan District Science and Technology Bureau, elaborated on national innovation and entrepreneurship policies and talent support policies. This provided everyone with a deeper and clearer understanding of relevant policies. During the sharing session, senior alumni from various fields, including Zhou Minglei, General Manager of Huayun Technology, Yan Xinrong, General Manager of CHDER, Wang Shicheng, Chairman of Beijing Soaring Electric Technology, Du Xiaosong, Founder of Wenxin Technology, Zhong Mingbo, Chairman of Mingyue Group, and Gao Hong, General Manager of Yunchu New Energy Technology, shared their experiences and achievements in technological innovation in the power grid and power technology. With vivid examples and detailed data, they demonstrated the importance of technological innovation to corporate and social development, inspiring the innovative and entrepreneurial enthusiasm of Tsinghua alumni present. During the event, the EEA Alumni Association released the “Creation and Sharing Plan.” Through this plan, alumni can access more resources and opportunities, injecting new vitality and momentum into the innovation and entrepreneurship journey of Tsinghua alumni. In addition, the “Joining Hands with Xiaoshan, Innovation and Entrepreneurship” exchange meeting for singhua alumni enterprises was held simultaneously on the same day. The smooth progress of this event provided a platform for Tsinghua alumni in Zhejiang involved in electrical engineering and energy fields to interact and cooperate. It vividly demonstrated the outstanding achievements of Tsinghua alumni in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship.
