On the afternoon of July 4, the All-Faculty Conference of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) took place at the Lecture Hall 217, Zone 3, West Main Building. More than 70 faculty members, including the leadership team and faculty members of EEA, attended the conference. The conference was chaired by Yu Xinjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of EEA, and was honored by the presence of Li Bingyang, Safety Commissioner of the Laboratory Management Office of Tsinghua University
To commence, Professor Min Yong, Director of the State Key Laboratory of New Type Power System Operation and Control, delivered a report on the laboratory’s construction progress. He introduced the lab’s mission, development goals, management mechanisms, and funding sources. Additionally, he provided updates on the construction of the Inner Mongolia branch and the planning of the Nankou Key Base.
Deputy Dean Zhu Guiping presented a report on the current status and improvement plan of ideological and political education in EEA. The report elaborated on the feedback and corresponding rectification measures from the university’s Party Committee related to ideological work and educational practices. She emphasized that all teachers should enhance their sense of mission, uphold moral integrity, and integrate ethics into their personal lives and teaching practices.
Dean Kang Chongqing delivered a mid-year work report, reviewing the significant progress and achievements in various aspects of EEA’s work during the semester, including party building, teaching, research, personnel, students, finance, and publicity. He outlined the work plans for the second half of the year, which encompassed activities such as rectification based on inspections, textbook development, organized research efforts, establishment of the Hangzhou Alumni Association, construction of the 111 Base, internal financial control enhancement, publicity campaigns, optimization of space in the West Main Building, and the development of the comprehensive laboratory. He concluded by wishing all faculty members an enjoyable summer break.
In the retirement commendation segment, Secretary Yu Xinjie and Dean Kang Chongqing presented flowers and souvenirs to faculty members who retired in the 2022 academic year, expressing gratitude for their significant contributions to EEA. Retired teachers Xia Qing and Duan Yusheng delivered speeches, fondly recollecting their experiences within the department and pledging continued support to its endeavors even after retirement.
During the recognition section, Secretary Yu Xinjie announced the recipients of the 2022 Student Career Development Contribution Award and the “July 1st” commendations from Tsinghua University and EEA. Advanced party organizations (party branches), excellent party building and ideological workers, and outstanding Communist Party members were recognized. Honorary certificates were presented to the award-winning representatives by Deputy Secretary of the EEA’s Party Committee, Wu Wenchuan.
Lastly, Li Bingyang, Safety Commissioner of the Laboratory Management Office of Tsinghua University, presented and explained the Laboratory Safety Manual of Tsinghua University, highlighting its essential requirements. He provided detailed safety guidelines for laboratories dealing with hazardous chemicals, pathogenic microorganisms, and specialized equipment. He also offered suggestions for enhancing laboratory safety within EEA.
