On the morning of October 26, 2022, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) held a party-government joint meeting to study the important spirit of “adhere to talent leading and driving and implement the strategy on developing a quality workforce in the new era” in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. To boost the cultivation of a high-level young postdoctoral talent team, the party-government joint meeting discussed and approved the “EEA’s Important Work Plan for Supporting Postdoctoral Development”, the main content of which is to establish a program for “Right-minded Young Scholar with Rigorous Scholarship" and a program for supporting excellent postdoctors. Following EEA’s motto of "rigorous in learning and upright in being a person”, the program for “Right-minded Young Scholar with Rigorous Scholarship” highlights “Be honest and upright, be just and honourable, be rigorous in learning, and be careful in practice”. The two talent programs are designed to cultivating talents leading in future innovation, scientific research, academic activities, and with global vision and strong sense of social responsibility. Young scholars are encouraged to explore major difficulties which have profound impact on the development of the country and society, and to contribute to scientific and technological innovation, knowledge progress and human development.
Postdoctors are the source of scientific research and innovation, and an important role promoting the strategy of strategy on developing a quality workforce and the core strategy of strengthening the colleges and universities with talents. EEA, as an important scientific research unit supporting the national “Dual-carbon” strategy, has been making effort to establish a special post-doctoral talent plan complying with the talent cultivating and “double first-class” programs of the department, make an overall plan for the post-doctoral incentive mechanism and training mechanism of the department, fully stimulate the vitality of young scholars, and reserve an excellent teacher forces while cultivating top-level young talents in the field of electric energy.
This meeting also discussed and deployed the recruitment and cultivation of post-doctors, construction of postdoctoral scientific research teams and the application for funded postdoctoral projects, which are of great significance for guiding the construction of post-doctoral teams and the cultivation of high-level young talents in the future.
