In order to promote postdoctoral exchanges and guide new postdoctoral fellows to quickly integrate into the big family of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), EEA held the first postdoctoral salon on the morning of July 5 at Room 102, Zone 3, West Main Building, Tsinghua University. More than 40 people, including Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA and Head of the Electrical Engineering Postdoctoral Station, Yu Xinjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of EEA, and postdoctoral fellows at the station, attended the salon, which was presided over by Yu Xinjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of EEA.

First of all, Yu Xinjie introduced the overview of the EEA’s postdoctoral team to the participants. He spoke highly of the representative scientific research achievements and innovative benefits created by postdoctoral fellows in recent years, fully affirmed the important power of young postdoctoral scholars, and expressed the Department’s full support for the postdoctoral salon series activities.

Kang Chongqing delivered a speech at the salon, expressing his ardent hopes and best wishes for the young postdoctoral scholars in four parts: independent scientific research, comprehensive development, courage to innovate, and serving the national strategic needs.

Li Shisong gave an academic report

Then, Li Shisong, a teacher of the teaching and research team, and Zuo Zhou, a postdoctoral fellow, were invited to give academic reports and share their experience in the first postdoctoral salon. Li Shisong, an outstanding postdoctoral fellow of EEA of Tsinghua University from 2014 to 2016, mainly introduced his continuous research in metrology, as well as the development history of global metrology and the frontier trends of quantum metrology briefly. He said that the rapid development of quantum technology has provided an opportunity to break through the bottleneck of the International System of Units, and has an important impact on the measurement traceability system and precision scientific research. In addition, he also shared his valuable experience in postdoctoral work.

Academic report in left week

Then, Zuo Zhou, a postdoctoral fellow at the EEA station, gave an academic report on the simulation of cross-scale degradation evolution of polymer dielectrics during long-term service. He said that with the wide application of polymer dielectrics in all sections of power system source, grid, load and storage, the long-term service reliability is crucial to the safe and stable operation of power equipment and power grid systems, numerical modeling and simulation technology can be used to effectively simulate the cross-scale dynamic evolution of the local degradation inside the polymer under complex working conditions, which has important guidance and reference value for the online monitoring of the insulation state, dielectric service life evaluation and prediction, and the research and development of long-life polymer dielectrics. In addition, he also shared his insights and experience of the two-year postdoctoral work, and especially thanked EEA for the training and care of the young postdoctoral scholars.

Retirees

Finally, Yu Xinjie made a summary of the postdoctoral salon, and hoped that the postdoctoral salon will be held as a series of high-quality activities in the future to promote interdisciplinary academic exchanges and experience sharing among young scholars, so as to achieve the purpose of exchange of ideas and integration of views.
