On September 25, the launching ceremony of the “Gao Jingde Science and Technology Award of China Electrotechnical Society” was held in Beijing. The ceremony was held concurrently with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the China Electrotechnical Society.Vice PresidentZeng Rong ofTsinghua University,Academician Lu Qiang of the Department of Electrical Engineering of Tsinghua University, Chairman Yang Qingxin of the China Electrotechnical Society, Chi Jingfrom the Tsinghua University Education Foundation, and some teachers and alumni of the Department of Electrical Engineering attended the launching ceremony. At the same time, Mr. Gao Jingde’s familywere also invited to the ceremony.
The “Gao Jingde Science and Technology Award of the China Electrotechnical Society” was jointly established by China Electrotechnical Society and Tsinghua University, aiming to promote scientific and technological innovation and high-quality industrial development in the field of electrical engineering, commend scientific and technological workers who has madeexcellent achievements and outstanding contributions to the development of science and technology inChina, anddeeply cherish the memory of Mr. Gao Jingde, the first chairman of the China Electrotechnical Society, a member(academician)of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, anda former president of Tsinghua University.
At the meeting, Yang Qingxin, chairman of the China Electrotechnical Society, announced the establishment of the “Gao Jingde Science and TechnologyAchievementAward of the China Electrotechnical Society” and announced that Academician Lu Qiang, a student of Mr. Gao Jingde, was appointed the director of the first selection committee.
Academician Lu Qiang deeplyrecalled the career ofhis teacher Gao Jingde, reviewed Mr. Gao’s outstanding contributions to the establishment of the China Electrotechnical Society and the construction of the discipline of electrical engineering.And meanwhile he also announcedto donate CNY 150,000 into the Gao Jingde Award Fund, and hoped thatwe can doour best to support theconstant construction and development of the “Gao Jingde Science and TechnologyAchievementAward of the China Electrotechnical Society”.
Chi Jing fromTsinghua University Education Foundation granted a donation certificate to the first donor, Academician Lu Qiang.
Finally, Yang Qingxin, chairman of the society, Zeng Rong, vice president of Tsinghua University, and academician Lu Qiang jointly lighted the kick-off ball of the “Gao Jingde Science and Technology Award of the China Electrotechnical Society” and announced that the “Gao Jingde Science and Technology Award of the China Electrotechnical Society” was formally established.
