On July 22, 2021,a seminar on "New Power System" was successfully held at Tsinghua University. Entrusted by the High-tech Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Industry Development Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized this seminar.Expertsfrom State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid Corporation of China, China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., China Three Gorges Corporation, China Electric Power Planning and Design Institute, Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization, TBEA Co., Ltd., North China Electric Power University, Tianjin University, Wuhan University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University and Tsinghua Universitywere invited to this seminar. The meeting was presided over by Liu Jianming, director of the Expert Committee of the Smart Grid Project of Industrial Development Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Subsequently, Liu Jia, deputy director of the 3rd Division of the Industrial Development Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introduced the purpose of the seminar. She mentioned that since General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the "new power system", there have been sufficient exchanges and discussions within the industry, and it is now necessary to integrate forces and build consensus to form a future development program. Following the successful launch of the first small-scale "New Power System" topic exchange meeting with Tsinghua University on June 21, the Industrial Development Promotion Center and Tsinghua University have carried out some preliminary work to prepare the "Report of Technology ResearchonNew Power System". She hoped that the team of authoritative experts in the power industry invited to thisseminar will further clarify thereport framework, clarify the content and division of labor after thorough discussions, and prepare fordraft ofsubsequent research reports.

Next, Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineeringand Applied Electronicsof Tsinghua University,Director of the Energy Internet Innovation Research Institute, andDirector of Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute,Tsinghua University,expressedhis appreciationon the arrival of experts and leaders in their busy schedule, and the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’strust on the Energy Internet of Tsinghua University,and said thatEEA will activelyparticipate in discussions,build consensus, and take the lead in completing tasks.

At theseminar, Dai Jing from the Energy Internet Innovation Research Institute of Tsinghua University shared Tsinghua University team’s preliminary thoughts on "Newpower system centered at new energies", and introduced the three-level working group composed ofa team ofacademician consultants,a team ofindustrially authoritative experts, anda team of drafters, as well asthe main chapters and recommendations of the "Report of Technology ResearchonNew Power System" for discussion by experts from participating units.
Then, the experts, starting from their respective research fields, put forward their own suggestions on the report chapters, division of labor,drafting ideas and directions.

Finally, Deputy Director Liu Jia summarized this seminar andassigned the follow-up work. She pointed out that the research result of this subject will provide strong support for the decision-making of the Ministry of Science and Technology in the relevant technical fields of the power system, and shehoped that all experts will work together to successfully complete the report.
